If the site is blocked on your network, it is almost certainly because the domain was registered on 22 September 2026 and filters block domains they have not yet categorised. Allowing langkeyb.com locally takes a moment, and we would be grateful if you would also submit it to your filtering provider as Education, which helps every other school.

If you are seeing the NCSC Protective DNS block page

The Protective DNS service shows the same message for every block it makes, including blocks that have nothing to do with malware: “This site may be associated with malicious activity or malware.” For a domain of this age the reason is the newly registered domain rule, which blocks domains registered in the last thirty days as a precaution against phishing and command-and-control sites. It is not a finding about this site.

Two things a network manager can check independently, both of which point the same way:

The domain has no history. It was registered on 22 September 2026 and has never been registered before. The Internet Archive holds a single capture of it, dated 23 September 2026, the day after registration. There is no earlier owner and no earlier use whose reputation could have carried over.
There is nothing on the site that malware needs. It is a single static HTML page with no server-side code, no database, no file uploads, no user accounts and no third-party scripts. Its content security policy is default-src 'none' with connect-src 'none', which means the page is not permitted to contact any other server at all, including ours. A page that cannot make a network request cannot exfiltrate anything or fetch a payload.

To get it cleared. Protective DNS subscribers can raise it through the PDNS support portal at protectivedns.service.ncsc.gov.uk, or by emailing pdnssupport@nominet.uk or calling 0330 236 9473. A report from a subscribing school carries more weight than one from the site owner, though we have reported it as well. In our experience these clear within days, and the newly registered domain window ends thirty days after registration, on 22 October 2026.

If your school needs the tool before then, allowing langkeyb.com in your local filter or DNS policy overrides the block, and we are happy to put any of the above in writing on headed email for your records.

Site integrity

Static hosting on Netlify. No server-side code runs anywhere: there is no backend to compromise and no database.
The whole application is one HTML file served over HTTPS, with the scripts and styles inside it. Nothing is loaded from a content delivery network or a third-party library host.
No advertising, no analytics, no tag manager, no tracking pixels - the three most common routes by which a legitimate site starts serving something it did not intend to.
No user-generated content, no comments, no uploads and no links submitted by users, so there is nothing for a third party to inject.
Deployments are made by the site owners only, from a version-controlled copy.

What it is

LangKeyB is a free tool for primary classrooms. A teacher types a sentence on the interactive whiteboard and each word colours itself according to its grammatical role, supporting the colour-coded approaches many schools already use, including Colourful Semantics and Language Through Colour. It is used with whole classes, with small groups, and in SEN and speech and language work. There is nothing to install: it is a single web page.

Data protection

Is a DPIA needed?	In our view no, because no personal data is processed, but the privacy notice on the site sets out the position in full for your data protection lead.

Filtering and monitoring considerations

There is no user-generated content shared between users, no chat, no messaging and no comments. Whatever a teacher types is visible only on that screen.
There are no external links out of the tool other than to the site's own information pages.
No file uploads. The Save panel writes a file to the teacher's own computer; nothing is uploaded anywhere.
The page works with JavaScript enabled. With JavaScript disabled it shows a short explanation rather than a blank screen.
No audio, no video, no camera or microphone access. The page requests no device permissions.

It is free, it is not funded by anyone and nothing on it is sponsored or advertised. It is not affiliated with any school, local authority, health body or publisher.
